James Harper: Oracle Database Consultant

James Harper is an Oracle Database Consultant at RDB Consulting. He is an 11g Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) and plans to specialise in Real Application Clusters (RAC) and
Security in the near future.

As a Database Consultant, James is responsible for implementing and upgrading new Oracle Database Systems. He is part of RDB Consulting on-site team at Barloworld Logistics, a valuable client of RDB Consulting. He also provides database support to HSRC and SANRAL. James also ensures maximum uptime for the variety of databases throughout his environment, which includes daily database analysis, health checks, audits and general consulting.

He enjoys the challenges of his job and the dynamic nature of the IT industry. He believes that it is his ability to think logically and find the simplest, but most effective ways to overcome any situation which has made him an integral part of the team. He is also passionate about learning new skills on a daily basis and aims to become the best DBA in the market. James is truly an asset to RDB Consulting and according to CEO, Jaroslav Cerny, he does everything right, first time and by the book.

When James is not working he enjoys spending time with his family and keeping fit by boxing. He belongs to Smith’s Boxercise club and trains there twice a week. He hopes to start one-on-one boxing training in the near future.
