Rapidly advancing technology and the constant demand for more information often compels platform migrations, with a strong likelihood of platform incompatibility. Heterogeneous platform migrations can be very difficult to perform especially when binary and/or endian incompatibility is a factor. The version of Oracle also plays a decisive role in the approach that needs to be adopted when doing the migration. Database size and the migration window may also be a big problem area that needs to be overcome.
